Asian Slaw Recipe

This asian slaw recipe is made with the chinese style chow mein noodles used for making casseroles or soups. <<>>The can of chop suey vegetables is an easy way to add bean sprouts, baby corn, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts if you don't want to buy them all seperately.

Asian coleslaw is great as a side dish or a full meal as it has many tasty, wholesome ingredients.

The noodles will become soft with time but the seeds and nuts will keep the salad crunchy.

Ingredients:

1/2 cabbage
2 carrots
1/2 cup shredded onion
1/2 cup sunflower seed
1/2 cup almonds
1 can chop suey vegetables
1 can mandarine oranges
6 handfuls chinese style chow mein noodles
1-2 cloves minced garlic(optional)

Dressing:

1/2 cup salad oil
1/4 cup sushi or rice vinegar
2 tbsp. sesame oil
2 tbsp. soya sauce
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp celery seed
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Shred cabbage, carrots and onion using a grater or mandoline slicer. Add the other ingredients, mix together in a large bowl and set aside.

In a small bowl mix together dressing ingredients and mix using a whisk or electric hand mixer. Pour over salad, mix together and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
